We held our own Summer Olympic Games here at Lilydale Senior Living on July 28. Everyone had a blast with some friendly competition, which included games like bean bag bullseye and ring toss. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make it happen and to all our participants! And, of course, congratulations to our winners: Mary S., Russ G., and George K. 🥇🎉
A resident sent along this kind letter of thanks following a recent field trip. Thank you for sharing, Mary – we always look for fun, engaging events and activities for our community members, and we love to hear when it shows!
We had a very special day earlier this month at Lilydale Senior Living as our friend and resident, Richard M., celebrated his 107th birthday! To commemorate the special occasion, he had a special visit with his daughter, Margo, and son, Richard, including a Zoom call with a large group of friends and family extending their congratulations, love, and birthday wishes. Please join us in wishing Richard a very happy birthday! 🎉🎂🎊
Our Residence Director, Pam, recently received a lovely letter of gratitude from a family member of one of our community members. He wanted to recognize the hard work of two Lilydale Senior Living associates – Stanley, a Home Health Aide, and Lamech in maintenance – in helping him replace the toilet seat in his loved one’s apartment:
“Today Stanley and Lamech pulled me out of the deep. It has become uncomfortable for Betty to sit on the toilet, so I bought her a cushioned seat which I thought I could install easily. Despite great efforts, I could not get the rusty bolts out of the old toilet seat.
Stanley volunteered to help me; before accepting his help, I had him confirm that it would not prevent him from carrying out his regular duties. He was able to remove the left bolt, but the right one wouldn’t budge. I told him we could use one of the plastic bolts that came with the new seat until Lamech could help remove the stubborn, rusty bolt next week.
However, Stanley was not satisfied with this suggestion. He was sure Lamech had power tools that he could use to get the right bolt out, and that proved to be the case. With both rusty bolts out, the new cushioned toilet seat went in easily. Betty is thrilled!
Stanley showed admirable persistence and ‘stick-to-it-iveness.’ He wanted to keep going when I was ready to give up. He’s terrifically handy, in addition to being an incredibly nice guy.
You know I think the world of the entire Lilydale staff, but Stanley’s actions today, with Lamech’s coaching, deserve special mention.” – Mike P.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Mike! We take pride in going above and beyond for the residents and family members of Lilydale Senior Living, and we love to hear when it shows. Awesome job, Stanley and Lamech – we are all so lucky to have you both in our community!
A few of our community members enjoyed some fun and festive baking together last month. Nothing quite like traditional Christmas cookies to help spread holiday cheer!
One of Lilydale Senior Living’s resident couples, Bill and Joan K., surprised our Health Unit Coordinator, Jasmine L., with a wedding gift last month. What an incredibly sweet and thoughtful gesture!
We brought classic tastes of the Minnesota State Fair to Lilydale Senior Living recently! Residents enjoyed mini corn dogs, cheese curds, and Sweet Martha’s cookies delivered right to their doors. ??
The Lilydale Senior Living staff recently received this kind, thoughtful letter of gratitude:
“I can’t thank you enough for your kind, compassionate, professional care of my dear mother, Helen.
You have always been so responsive to any questions or needs we had for you. In spite of the extra amount of work involved, you managed to keep my mom and all residents free from contracting the COVID virus. In this time of enormous upheaval, you kept a calm, serene atmosphere for residents and their families.
I can’t name you all here, but please know that I appreciated everyone working to keep my mom safe and comfortable, from the kitchen to the cleaners, to all the aides, nurses and Pam.
You are all a blessing to our family and we will always remember your humor and compassion in taking care of my mom.
Thank you all. Stay safe. Warmest Regards,” – Debbie K.
Thank you so much for the heartwarming message, Debbie. Our hearts are with you and your family during this difficult time. We are so grateful we were able to get to know Helen in her time with us. She will be missed by many.
